“Don’t Let them Take your Peace”
I was upset about something yesterday morning and my mom said to me, “Don’t let them take your peace! Don’t let them take your joy!” Of course, it went in one ear and flew out the other because I am stubborn. Also, I don’t like people messing with me or the ones I love. The claws come OUT!
Couldn’t tell me shiiiiiii…Sorry, Mommy!
Later that day, my brother was posting on Snapchat about the power of being positive and the effect that it was having on his day. He was having a great ass day! It is important to note that my brother NEVER SPEAKS in his snaps. NEVER! EVER! but he felt compelled to share his positivity with his followers and though I teased him about it, I am proud of him for that. It is a step in the right direction and I am all for it.
“I am an avid purchaser of tomorrow’s problems.”
I won’t lie, the times when I choose to be positive, I feel good. I feel REALLY good but it is also very easy for me to wallow in my moodiness. I am an avid purchaser of tomorrow’s problems. It is a very bad habit but it is something that I am working on. I am the worry wart of my family. This would be a good time to let you know that nickname my mom has for me because of this but I forgot ;). I definitely want to go in depth about this in a future blog post but I just wanted to make this quick.
All I want to say is, when you are faced with the opportunity to turn an unpleasant situation into something positive, please try and try really hard. No one is worth your peace and sanity. Most times, people will try to get under your skin and it will be difficult but do not give them a reaction. That is the very thing that fuels them. I am saying this to you but also to myself as well. My brother just posted on Snapchat to kill people with kindness. This is something my mom said to me yesterday as well. Like I said, I was not trying to hear that but it is the way she is living her life. I am not there yet but it will be nice to be able to get there one day. As I get older, I realize that peace is so important. If you have it, hold on to it. The world is chaotic enough. It may be hard and we are human. We fall short and sometimes give in to negativity but we have the power to change our mindset and our attitude in the way we approach situations.
Let’s try to approach them with positivity. I heard it works…
